Simply put, UMBRIA is stunningly beautiful, lush, exquisite, mystical, peaceful, and best of all, unspoiled and less touristy than neighboring Tuscany. The only landlocked region of Italy, it is often referred to as "the green heart of Italy". It is an especially verdant region of mountains, rolling green hills, forests, tumbling rivers and lush farming land, hiking trails, vineyards, and awe inspiring and time transporting views. Out of UMBRIA comes extraordinary and highly regarded wines, both red and white, olive oils, whole grains, exquisite truffles, first rate prosciutto, sausages and other pork products, honeys, cheeses, and so much more.
I was very lucky to end up in Umbria at the tender age of 19 to perform as a classical singer for the Festival dei Due Mondi (Festival of Two Worlds), a highly regarded arts festival founded by Italian American composer and director, Giancarlo Menotti, who transformed the town of SPOLETO, by putting it on the international artistic stage. Needless to say, my life was transformed greatly after performing in UMBRIA for 13 years for the festival, developing a deep love for the region, the people, and the local culture. In 2006, after many years going back to visit the region, I founded a choral and cultural program for a cappella choral singers, now in its 7th season called UMBRIAN SERENADES: Choral & Cultural Tastings in the Green Heart of Italy.
Now, almost 30 years since I first went to UMBRIA for the very first time, Daniela and I have designed a unique tour for those searching an "off the beaten path" travel experience in an unspoiled region in Italy. It will be our joy to share with you our deep love for UMBRIA on our SWEETNESS OF UMBRIA harvest tour!
